Whilst studying classical saxophone at the Royal Northern College of Music, Kyran became the only saxophonist from the world-renowned RNCM saxophone department to win both of the college's major contests; the Gold Medal and Concerto competitions, also becoming one of the youngest wind musicians to be awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music. In his early career, Kyran worked with the BBC Philharmonic and Hallé Orchestras, performed concertos at The Bridgewater Hall and the World Saxophone Congress, as well as premiering several solo and chamber works by emerging composers.

Over the years, Kyran has worked more extensively in the world of jazz & improvised music, leading him to undertake further studies at the world renowned jazz department of the Royal Academy of Music (with generous support from the Countess of Munster and Help Musicians). Kyran is now based between Manchester & London, writing for & fronting several original jazz projects (which you can find out about here), and appearing as sideman with numerous bands across the UK. Kyran can regularly by seen performing at clubs and festivals across Europe and occasionally further afield. You can check out some of his dates here

In addition to his work as a performer, Kyran works as programme manager and co-director of NQ Jazz, teaches jazz saxophone at the University of Manchester and works as a guest director for large ensemble projects.
